Peripheral Vascular Assessment

1. Upon successful completion of this module the student will be able to:

A. Identify pertinent historical data regarding:

-Intermittent claudication
-Raynaud's phenomenon
-Deep venous thrombosis
-Arterial insufficiency
-Venous insufficiency
-Syncope

B. Perform and accurately document an examination of the peripheral vascular system, identifying normal and abnormal findings:

-radial arteries

-elasticity of vessels

-bruising

-ulnar arteries

-calf circumference

-pain

-Brachial arteries

-varicosity

-Allen test

-dorsalis pedis

-skin temperature

-edema location & grade

-popliteal arteries

-capillary refill

-DVT

-pulses graded

-hair distribution

-arterial insufficiency
