Health Risk Behaviors Among Women Who Use a Women Veterans’ Clinic

The authors’ report a descriptive study conducted at a VA women’s clinic with the following purposes: “(a) to identify the incidence of selected risk behaviors associated with cardiovascular disease, alcohol consumption, and high risk sexual behavior among women veterans, (b) to compare the incidence of selected health risk behaviors among clients who attended a women’s veterans’ clinic for primary care (Group A) and mental health services (Group B).”  Data were collected using The HPHRA questionnaire, a norm referenced instrument to measure health risk behaviors and health needs.

Delta Blues or Depression:  A Concept Analysis

The purpose of this article is to apply strategies identified by Walker and Avant to analyze the concept of depression for the nursing discipline.  Definitions of depression and contextual applications are examined using dictionaries, popular and professional literature.  Defining attributes, antecedents and consequences are presented and cases are discussed.

The following papers were presented at the DHEP Regional Summit titled "Community Networking:  Expanding Opportunities for Health Care Access & Promoting Positive Practice Enviornments" held September 21-22, 2000 in New Orleans, LA
