Network development is vital to addressing the medical needs of rural and underserved communities. This presentation will address the necessary components of developing a community network. Using an actual model in rural Louisiana, we will describe the steps taken and resources utilized in improving health care access in this area of the state. These resources include the medical school, community-based residency, local foundation, state and local government. From funding sources to meeting with residents of the community to outline their needs, we will discuss current and projected needs in this area, and others like it.
