Module 1: Pathophysiology of Cellular     Structures

This module covers material found in McCance & Huether, Chapters 1 -13. To assist your study, each learning activity will be referenced to a specific chapter.   You will find it helpful to have read the referenced text material prior to beginning the learning activities.

Module Objectives:

  1. Analyze acid-base abnormalities and their effect on cellular function.
  2. Distinguish the effects of body fluid/electrolyte abnormalities on cellular function.
  3. Describe the physiologic effects of stress.
  4. Explore the genetic basis of disease and abnormalities.
  5. Analyze altered cellular growth patterns and the resulting symptomology.
  6. Characterize the components and functions of the immune response.
  7. Evaluate the cellular effects of inflammation and infection.
