What is a Web Course? A Web Course is by nature content taught through extensive use of the Internet/Web sites. The entire course content can be explored and communicated by means of the Web or parts of the course can be taught using the Web, supplemented by other methods. Using the Internet-based learning environment, instructors can publish syllabi and course materials, communicate with students through e-mail, class chat rooms and post and evaluate test/assignments. Coursework on the Web allows interactive, self-paced learning. Students have access to an extensive resource of text-based information including reports, documents, research papers, books, journals, databases, news, etc. Students with variable schedules and outside demands can work when it is convenient. Faculty can use class time for more detailed discussion and problem solving and less information transfer. Coursework on the Web is based on educational technology and is imperative for distance learning. |
